A Base wallet is any Ethereum-style wallet that holds ETH, USDC and tokens on Base, the layer 2 network Coinbase built. It uses your usual 0x address and pays gas in ETH, because Base has no token of its own. Choose Base as the network when you withdraw from Coinbase, and check that you received native USDC.

A Bitcoin wallet holds the private key for your Bitcoin address and signs your payments with it. Use a native SegWit address starting with bc1q, pick the Bitcoin network rather than Lightning or BEP20 when you withdraw from an exchange, and remember that fees are priced in sat/vB, by size rather than amount.

A Celo wallet holds CELO and stablecoins such as USDm, USDT and USDC on Celo, an Ethereum layer 2 since March 2025. It uses a normal 0x address and fees well under a cent. Some wallets pay gas in stablecoins, others in CELO, so check which yours does before you empty its CELO.

A Litecoin wallet keeps the key to your LTC address and signs each payment. In Keylo that address starts with ltc1q, fees are a fraction of a cent, and blocks arrive every 2.5 minutes. The traps are address formats: old 3-addresses, private ltcmweb1 addresses and wrapped LTC on other networks.

A Plasma wallet holds USDT0 and XPL on Plasma, a stablecoin-focused chain that uses your normal 0x address. Plasma's own apps offer free USDT transfers, but ordinary wallet transactions pay a tiny gas fee in XPL, so keep a little XPL next to your dollars and pick Plasma as the network on exchanges.

A Tron wallet controls a T address that holds TRX and TRC20 tokens such as USDT. The one rule to remember: fees are paid in TRX, through energy and bandwidth, so keep a few TRX next to your USDT. A new address also needs TRX before it can send anything.
