Terms of use

Last updated

These terms explain what Keylo does, what it can't do, and what you're responsible for when you use it. Please read them along with our privacy policy.

1.What Keylo is

Keylo is software that lets you create and use a cryptocurrency wallet in your web browser. Your wallet's recovery phrase and private keys are generated and encrypted on your device. Keylo stores only an encrypted copy that it cannot decrypt.

Keylo is not a bank, exchange, broker or custodian. We never hold, control or have access to your crypto assets, and we can't move, freeze, reverse or recover them.

2.Your account

To use Keylo you create an account with your name, email address, phone number and a password. You agree to:

  • give accurate information and keep your email address up to date, because we use it for security alerts and password resets;
  • be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and legally able to use crypto assets there;
  • keep your password, recovery phrase, two-step codes and backup codes private, and not share your account;
  • tell us promptly through support if you think someone else has accessed your account.

3.Your recovery phrase and password

Your password is used on your device to encrypt your wallet. Your recovery phrase is the only backup of your wallet. If you forget your password you can reset it, but you'll need your recovery phrase to restore your wallet afterwards.

If you lose both your password and your recovery phrase, no one, including Keylo, can restore access to your wallet or funds. You are solely responsible for keeping your recovery phrase safe and private.

4.Transactions

You decide every transaction and sign it on your device. Blockchain transactions are generally final and cannot be reversed. Before you confirm, check the recipient address, the network, the amount and any memo or tag the recipient requires.

Network fees are set by each blockchain and paid to it, not to Keylo. Estimates can change between quote and confirmation. Some networks require a minimum balance or account activation, and Keylo shows these requirements where it can.

5.Swaps, bridges and staking

Swaps and bridges are carried out by independent decentralized protocols, such as LI.FI routes and THORChain. Staking is provided by the validators you choose on each network. Keylo shows quotes and prepares transactions; it does not execute trades on your behalf or act as a counterparty.

These protocols set their own fees, limits and timing, can be paused or fail, and may refund funds in a different token than you sent. Prices can move while a transaction is pending; your slippage limit sets the least you'll accept. Keylo may charge a service fee on some swaps, and any such fee is shown in the quote before you confirm.

6.Acceptable use

You agree not to use Keylo to:

  • break any law or regulation that applies to you, including sanctions, anti-money-laundering or tax laws;
  • deal in proceeds of crime, fraud, scams or ransomware, or help anyone else do so;
  • attack, overload, reverse engineer for abuse, or try to get unauthorized access to Keylo or other users' accounts;
  • use automated means to create accounts or scrape the service.

7.Third-party services

Keylo relies on public blockchain networks, node providers, block explorers, price sources and routing protocols that we don't control. Their availability and accuracy can vary. Links to block explorers and other sites are provided for convenience.

8.Service changes and suspension

We may add, change or remove features or supported networks, and may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put other users at risk. Because your wallet is non-custodial, you can always restore it with your recovery phrase in any compatible wallet, even if your Keylo account is closed.

9.No financial advice

Guides and information on Keylo are general education, not financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Crypto assets are volatile and you can lose the full value of what you hold.

10.Disclaimers and liability

Keylo is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

To the extent the law allows, Keylo is not liable for losses caused by your own actions, such as sending to a wrong address or network, losing your recovery phrase or password, or approving a transaction, nor for failures of blockchains or third-party protocols, nor for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Keylo after that means you accept the updated terms.
