Chiliz Wallet: Store CHZ and Fan Tokens, Pick the Right Network

A Chiliz wallet holds CHZ and fan tokens such as PSG or BAR on Chiliz Chain, an EVM network built for sports brands. It uses a normal 0x address and pays every fee in CHZ. Withdraw on Chiliz Chain rather than Ethereum, and make sure your fan tokens are the upgraded 18-decimal versions.

A Chiliz wallet is the app that holds the private key to your address on Chiliz Chain, the EVM network behind Socios.com and most sports fan tokens. It stores CHZ, the coin that pays gas, along with fan tokens such as PSG, BAR or JUV. A block arrives every 3 seconds, and a plain CHZ transfer costs about 0.05 CHZ in gas.

Two things catch out new Chiliz wallet users. CHZ also exists as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, so exchanges offer more than one network for it. And every fan token moved to a new 18-decimal contract during 2025 and 2026, so older balances may sit in a contract apps no longer show. Figures below are as of October 2026.

How a Chiliz wallet works#

Chiliz Chain is a fork of BNB Smart Chain, so it runs the Ethereum virtual machine and Ethereum's account model. The chain keeps your balances. Your wallet keeps the key, signs each transfer and pays its gas in CHZ.

Your Chiliz Chain wallet address#

The address in your Chiliz wallet is an ordinary 0x address, the same one you have on Ethereum or any other EVM network. In Keylo, every EVM network shares that address, derived on m/44'/60'/0'/0/0, the path MetaMask uses for its first account.

The address is shared, but the balances aren't. CHZ on Chiliz Chain lives only on Chiliz Chain, and a token on Ethereum at the same address is a separate asset. There's no memo, no activation deposit and no minimum balance to keep.

CHZ on Chiliz Chain vs CHZ on Ethereum#

CHZ started as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, and that version still trades. On Chiliz Chain, CHZ is the native coin. Both are worth the same, but only native CHZ can pay fees on Chiliz Chain.

That's why the withdrawal network matters. Choose Chiliz Chain and native CHZ lands in your wallet ready to use. Choose Ethereum and you receive ERC-20 CHZ at the same address on Ethereum instead. It isn't lost, but bringing it across takes Chiliz's own Ethereum bridge, which delivers native CHZ in one step, or Chainport, which delivers wrapped wCHZ that you then unwrap. Both are websites that need a connected wallet.

Fan tokens and the 2026 decimal upgrade#

Fan tokens are CAP-20 tokens issued for clubs and sports brands, and Chiliz's token contract list covers more than 60 of them. They power polls, rewards and other perks in the Socios.com app. Every fan token also exists on Base and Solana, bridged through LayerZero, at different contract addresses.

Fan tokens used to have zero decimals, so you could only hold whole tokens. Chiliz then moved every fan token to a new contract with 18 decimals, which allows fractions. The migration ran in phases from September 2025, and Chiliz's docs say every fan token had its upgraded contract by the second quarter of 2026. PSG, BAR and JUV were among the last, in Q2 2026.

Where your tokens sit decides what you do:

  • On an exchange. Most exchanges upgrade balances for their users. Follow your exchange's own notices.

  • In the Socios.com app. The app asks you to upgrade at your next login, free of charge.

  • In a self-custody wallet. The upgrade is your job. You connect the wallet to Chiliz's portal at app.fantokens.com, which takes the old tokens and sends back the same amount of new ones within about a minute. Socios.com notes that this route charges a fee for the upgrade itself.

Keylo can't connect to that portal. If you still hold an old zero-decimal fan token, upgrade it before moving to Keylo. If it's already in Keylo, send it to your Socios.com wallet and upgrade there, or import your phrase into a wallet that connects, such as MetaMask. Neither Chiliz nor Socios.com names a closing date for the upgrade as of October 2026. The 2026 migration page lists every new contract.

How to choose a Chiliz wallet#

Chiliz's docs name three kinds of wallet, and web wallets add a fourth.

  • MetaMask. A browser extension and mobile app. You add Chiliz Chain as a network, then use the staking site, the bridges and the fan token portal. It also pairs with a Ledger device.

  • Socios.com Wallet. The official fan token app for iPhone and Android, where you hold, stake and trade fan tokens, vote in polls and collect club rewards.

  • Safe. A multisig wallet at safe.chiliz.com, set up for Chiliz Chain by Protofire, suited to organizations that share funds.

  • Web wallets. These open in a browser tab, with nothing to install. Keylo is one of them.

In a Chiliz wallet, look for a way to add tokens by contract, because names can't tell an old fan token from its upgraded twin. It should also show which network a balance is on, so you never confuse ERC-20 CHZ with native CHZ. If you want to stake CHZ, it must be able to connect to Chiliz's staking site.

Keylo fits if you want to keep CHZ and fan tokens in a wallet you control and send them to friends, exchanges or Socios.com from any browser. However, it's a poor fit for staking, bridging, swapping or using Chiliz apps, because Keylo can't do any of those on this chain.

How to set up a Chiliz wallet in Keylo#

Keylo already knows Chiliz Chain, so there's no chain ID or RPC to type in.

  1. Go to the Keylo sign-up page, enter your full name, email, phone number and a password twice, tick the terms box and tap Create account.

  2. Confirm your email if Keylo sends you to "Check your inbox".

  3. Tap Create a new wallet. Keylo generates a 12-word recovery phrase right in your browser, then locks it with your password using Argon2id and AES-256-GCM. The server stores only that locked copy.

  4. Open Chiliz Chain in your asset list. Your 0x address and CHZ balance are there.

  5. Back up the words. Go to Settings, then Recovery phrase, type your password and tap Show my phrase. Copy the words onto paper, tap I wrote them down and confirm three of them.

  6. Turn on Two-factor authentication and choose an Anti-phishing code in Settings too.

A password reset can't decrypt the old vault, so the paper copy of your phrase is what restores the wallet.

Moving from MetaMask#

Choose Import a recovery phrase and enter your 12 or 24 words. Keylo uses MetaMask's Ethereum path, so your first MetaMask account opens with the same address and balance. Accounts you added later won't appear, but their funds stay put.

Adding fan tokens and stablecoins#

Keylo shows CHZ by itself, but on Chiliz Chain it doesn't detect any token for you, fan tokens and stablecoins included. Add each one under Settings, Networks, Custom tokens: tap Add token, pick Chiliz Chain, paste the contract address, and type the symbol and decimals. Take the address from Chiliz's docs or the club, never from a chat.

Upgraded fan tokens use 18 decimals, for example PSG at 0xFe1d4A935df7A4A52F835f6104C97AF9D72217f2. The bridged stablecoins use 6, so change the decimals field from 18: USDC is 0xa37936F56249965d407E39347528a1A91eB1cbef and USDT is 0x37C57a89812a0D492AeEd7691F1610CA0a8f74A1. A token shows in your asset list once it holds a balance.

How to receive CHZ and fan tokens#

  1. Tap Receive and choose Chiliz Chain. You'll see "Receive on Chiliz Chain" with a QR code.

  2. Tap Copy or Share, or show the code to the sender.

  3. On an exchange, pick Chiliz Chain as the withdrawal network, not Ethereum. Exchanges name it differently, so look for the word Chiliz.

  4. From Socios.com, withdraw to your 0x address and confirm the app sends on Chiliz Chain.

  5. Watch your balance in Keylo, or open your address in Chiliz Explorer. Keylo's Activity list on this network shows only transfers you sent from Keylo, so deposits won't appear there.

Keylo's Receive screen showing a Chiliz Chain address and QR code
Keylo's Receive screen for Chiliz Chain

The Receive screen reminds you that this address is the same on every EVM network. So if a sender picks Ethereum instead, the ERC-20 CHZ still reaches you, under Ethereum in Keylo. Getting it onto Chiliz Chain then takes one of the bridges mentioned above.

How to send CHZ on Chiliz Chain#

  1. Tap Send and pick CHZ or a token on Chiliz Chain.

  2. Paste or scan the recipient's address in To.

  3. Enter an amount, or tap Max to send all your CHZ minus a margin for the fee.

  4. Tap Review. Keylo selects Normal, so keep it or pick Fast.

  5. Check the network, the full address (its first and last six characters are in bold) and the fee in CHZ.

  6. Tap Send. Keylo signs on your device and moves from "On its way" to "Sent", with a View on Chiliz Explorer link.

Checks before you sign#

Keylo test-runs each transfer with the network before you sign. If the token contract would reject it, the review screen says why and won't let you send. It also catches these:

  • No CHZ for gas. Sending PSG with no CHZ shows "You need some CHZ on Chiliz Chain to pay the network fee."

  • A contract as recipient. You get a warning, since tokens sent to a contract that can't handle them are usually lost.

  • The token's own contract. Keylo refuses to send a token to its own contract address.

  • The wrong kind of address. A Solana or Bitcoin address gets a clear message instead of a send.

If a transfer stays pending for more than a minute, tap Speed up on the status screen to resend it with a higher fee.

Chiliz Chain gas fees and confirmation times#

Chiliz Chain uses Ethereum's EIP-1559 fee model, but its base fee is fixed at 2,500 gwei. On top of that comes a tip, which Chiliz's docs say must be at least 1 gwei. Under Tokenomics 2.0, the vast majority of gas fees are burned, which offsets part of CHZ's yearly inflation.

Before it lets you send, Keylo checks that you could pay the fee at its ceiling, which sits well above the real cost. For a fan token going to a new holder, that check can ask for about 0.7 CHZ, so keep a CHZ or two spare. The review screen's estimate also runs a little above the final cost, because Keylo pads the gas limit. Keylo adds no fee of its own to a normal send.

Because the tip minimum is 1 gwei, stay on Normal or pick Fast. On October 24, 2026, the network suggested a tip of exactly 1 gwei. Keylo's Slow option bids 10% under the suggestion, which falls below Chiliz's documented minimum and can leave the transfer pending.

Blocks came every 3 seconds in a 1,000-block sample on October 24, 2026. Finality is probabilistic. Chiliz says two-thirds of validators confirm a block after a median of 14 blocks, about 42 seconds. Its docs suggest waiting about 40 blocks (two minutes) for a standard payment and 100 blocks (five minutes) for a large one.

What Keylo doesn't do on Chiliz Chain#

  • No swap or bridge. Keylo's swap provider doesn't cover Chiliz Chain. To trade, use an exchange that lists the token on Chiliz Chain, or a Chiliz DEX through a wallet that connects.

  • No staking. Keylo stakes only on Cosmos SDK chains, so stake CHZ through MetaMask, on its own or with a Ledger, on Chiliz's staking site.

  • No dapp connections. There's no browser extension and no WalletConnect, so the fan token portal, bridges and Chiliz apps are out of reach.

  • No NFTs. Keylo has no NFT view on Chiliz Chain and can't send sports NFTs.

  • No testnet, hardware wallets or card purchases. Chiliz's Spicy testnet isn't in Keylo, so buy CHZ on an exchange and withdraw it on Chiliz Chain.

Keylo is also non-custodial. If your password and your recovery phrase are both lost, nobody can open the wallet, Keylo included. The full network list shows where else your phrase works.

Chiliz scams and mistakes to avoid#

  • Fake upgrade portals. The decimal upgrade gave scammers a ready story. The real portal is app.fantokens.com, and no upgrade ever needs your recovery phrase. Ignore links in direct messages, comments or token names.

  • Lookalike fan tokens. Anyone can deploy a token called PSG with the club crest. Add tokens only by a contract address from Chiliz's docs or the club itself, as Keylo's own warning on that screen says.

  • Old tokens sent to the wrong place. Socios.com warns that zero-decimal fan tokens sent to a platform that doesn't support them can be lost. Upgrade first, then move them.

  • Address poisoning. Scammers send tiny transfers from addresses that start and end like yours or a friend's. Copy addresses from the source, not from your history.

  • Fake support. Keylo staff never ask for your phrase or password. Contact the team through Keylo support, and see what Keylo does to protect your wallet.

Before the first real transfer from your Chiliz wallet, check that:

  1. Your recovery phrase is written down and confirmed in Keylo.

  2. You hold 1 or 2 CHZ on Chiliz Chain for gas.

  3. The withdrawal network says Chiliz Chain, not Ethereum.

  4. Your fan tokens are the upgraded 18-decimal versions.

  5. A small test transfer arrived before you send the rest.

Your Keylo address works on other EVM chains too. The Ethereum wallet guide covers ERC-20 CHZ, and the BNB Smart Chain wallet guide explains the network Chiliz Chain was forked from.

Keep CHZ and fan tokens in a wallet you control

Keylo encrypts your recovery phrase on your device and never sees it. Hold and send CHZ on Chiliz Chain from any browser.

Chiliz wallet FAQ#

What is the best CHZ wallet?

It depends on what you do with your CHZ and fan tokens. For fan perks, polls and free fan token upgrades, the Socios.com Wallet is built for that. MetaMask suits staking, bridging and Chiliz apps. To hold and send CHZ and fan tokens from any browser without installing anything, Keylo works, though it can't stake, swap or bridge on Chiliz Chain.

Is there a Chiliz wallet app?

Yes. The Socios.com Wallet is the official fan token app for iPhone and Android, and MetaMask's mobile app works once you add Chiliz Chain. Keylo isn't in the app stores, because it's a web wallet that runs in your phone's browser. You can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app, and the same address works on your computer.

Can I use MetaMask with Chiliz Chain?

Yes. You add Chiliz Chain as a network with chain ID 88888, as Chiliz's docs describe. A MetaMask recovery phrase imported into Keylo shows the same Chiliz Chain address and balance, because both use Ethereum's derivation path. Some people stake and upgrade tokens in MetaMask, which Keylo can't do, and keep everyday balances in Keylo.

What is the difference between CHZ on Ethereum and CHZ on Chiliz Chain?

They're the same asset on two networks. On Ethereum, CHZ is an ERC-20 token that needs ETH for gas. On Chiliz Chain, CHZ is the native coin that pays gas there. Exchanges offer both, so choose Chiliz Chain when withdrawing to use CHZ or move fan tokens. Moving ERC-20 CHZ across takes the Chiliz Bridge or Chainport.

Why don't my fan tokens show up in my wallet?

Usually for one of two reasons. Many wallets, Keylo included, don't list fan tokens until you add their contract, so add the token under Custom tokens with 18 decimals. Or you hold an old zero-decimal version that was never upgraded. Upgrade it in the Socios.com app or at app.fantokens.com, then add the new contract.

How much is the gas fee on Chiliz Chain?

Chiliz Chain has a fixed base fee of 2,500 gwei plus a tip of at least 1 gwei. That makes a CHZ transfer about 0.053 CHZ and a fan token transfer roughly 0.12 to 0.3 CHZ, as of October 2026. Most of it is burned. Keep 1 or 2 CHZ spare so you can always move your tokens.

How long does a Chiliz Chain transaction take?

A new block arrives about every 3 seconds, so Keylo usually shows "Sent" within seconds. Chiliz's finality is probabilistic: two-thirds of validators confirm a block after a median of 14 blocks, roughly 42 seconds. Exchanges often wait for more confirmations before crediting a deposit, so allow a few minutes there.

How do I stake CHZ?

You stake through Chiliz's staking site by delegating CHZ to a validator. Rewards are added to your stake about once a day, and unstaking takes up to 3 days before you can claim. Keylo can't connect to the staking site and only stakes on Cosmos SDK chains, so use MetaMask or a Ledger with MetaMask instead.

I sent CHZ on the wrong network. Can I get it back?

If it went to your own address on Ethereum or another EVM network Keylo supports, yes. It sits there under that network, and a bridge such as the Chiliz Bridge or Chainport can move ERC-20 CHZ back to Chiliz Chain through a wallet that connects. If it went to someone else's address, only they can return it.
