A Moonbeam wallet used to mean a wallet that held GLMR on Moonbeam, the Ethereum-compatible parachain of Polkadot. That network has wound down. In July 2026, the Moonbeam Foundation moved GLMR to Base, Coinbase's Ethereum layer 2, as an ordinary ERC-20 token at one for one. By August, the parachain had stopped producing blocks.
So the real questions now are where your GLMR is, how to reach it, and which wallet to keep it in. The answers depend on whether it sat on an exchange, went through the migration portal, or stayed on Moonbeam past the deadline. This page walks through each case and explains what Keylo can and can't do. Everything here was checked on October 24, 2026.

What happened to the Moonbeam network#
Moonbeam went live in early 2022 as a parachain, a chain that shares security with Polkadot's relay chain. It ran a full EVM, so MetaMask and other Ethereum wallets could hold GLMR at a normal 0x address. GLMR had two jobs there: paying gas and backing the collators who produced blocks.
The move to Base#
On July 3, 2026, the Foundation published its relaunch announcement. Every GLMR became one Base ERC-20 GLMR. Holders had to bridge from the parachain to Base before July 31, 2026, after first pulling funds out of Moonbeam DeFi, lending and staking. The announcement said exchanges would handle the switch for their customers.
Moonriver, Moonbeam's sister network on Kusama, followed on July 7 with the same July 31 deadline. MOVR moved to Base through a two-step route that passed through Moonbeam first.
The end of the parachain#
Moonbeam's website now describes the project as an agent settlement network on Base, still marked pre-launch. It says GLMR's old jobs, paying gas and staking collators, "ended with the parachain."
The chain data matches. On October 24, 2026, two independent public RPC providers both reported the same last block, 16,796,699, produced on August 10, 2026. The official RPC endpoint didn't respond, and the Moonscan explorer and Moonbeam's developer docs no longer loaded.
Where is your GLMR now?#
Find your situation below. In each case, start by writing down your Moonbeam wallet address, the 0x string, because it's the same on Moonbeam and Base.
GLMR you held on an exchange#
The Foundation said exchanges would migrate balances automatically. Log in and check what the exchange shows, and read its announcements about the GLMR switchover. If your balance looks wrong, contact the exchange's support, not the Moonbeam team.
GLMR you migrated through the portal#
The portal locked GLMR on Moonbeam and released Base GLMR. If it sent the tokens to your own address, they sit at the same 0x string on Base. Paste that address into Basescan's GLMR page or any wallet that supports Base to see the balance.
GLMR that stayed on Moonbeam after July 31#
This is the hard case. The deadline passed, and the parachain no longer produces blocks, so a transfer on Moonbeam can't confirm. The announcement's FAQ said guidance for holders who did nothing would follow, but we found no public late-migration route on October 24, 2026, and the old migration portal no longer responded.
Watch the news page on moonbeam.network for any update. The archived Moonbeam forum sends holders to the Moonbeam Discord and to [email protected], so start there and distrust anyone who contacts you first. Keep your recovery phrase safe and private, because only the key for that address could ever move the old balance.
Tokens other than GLMR#
Assets such as xcDOT, Moonbeam stablecoins or LP tokens depend on their issuers and protocols. The Foundation warned that funds left in on-chain protocols may become inaccessible once the chain wound down. If you hold any, check the issuer's own announcements.
How a Moonbeam wallet address works#
Moonbeam used Ethereum-style 20-byte accounts, which it called unified accounts. That's why your Moonbeam wallet address starts with 0x, unlike the long SS58 addresses on Polkadot's relay chain. It's also why the same address works on Base.
Keylo derives that address on m/44'/60'/0'/0/0, the path MetaMask uses for its first account. If your Moonbeam account came from MetaMask, or from another wallet using that path, importing the phrase into Keylo shows the same address. Polkadot-type accounts from relay-chain wallets use different keys and never held GLMR directly.
Keylo's Receive screen for Moonbeam shows your 0x address and a QR code, and notes that the address is the same on every EVM network. Don't ask anyone to send on Moonbeam now. To receive GLMR, open Receive on Base instead and give the sender that screen, so the network label says Base.
How to choose a wallet for GLMR now#
GLMR on Base is a plain ERC-20 token, so the right wallet is any wallet that supports Base and lets you add a token by contract. You no longer need a Polkadot-aware wallet.
Browser extension and mobile EVM wallets. MetaMask and similar wallets support Base and can show GLMR once you import the token.
Hardware wallets. A device that works with Base keeps the key offline, which suits a balance you plan to hold.
Exchange accounts. If your exchange completed the migration, GLMR may already be there. The exchange holds the keys.
Web wallets. Keylo runs in a browser tab and includes Base.
For GLMR specifically, look for three things: custom token support by contract, a clear view of which network you're on, and an ETH balance check before you send. GLMR on Base can't pay its own gas.
Keylo is a reasonable home for GLMR on Base if you also want other networks under one phrase. It can't move anything on the old parachain, and it couldn't have used the migration portal either, because Keylo doesn't connect to dapps.
How to hold GLMR on Base in Keylo#
Keylo includes Base and Moonbeam, so there's no network to add. You only add the GLMR token.
Open the Keylo sign-up page. Enter your full name, email, phone number and a password with its confirmation, tick the terms and select Create account.
If Keylo shows "Check your inbox", confirm your email from the message.
On "Set up your wallet", choose Create a new wallet for a fresh address, or Import a recovery phrase to bring the 12 or 24 words from your old Moonbeam wallet. Either way, your browser encrypts the phrase with your password (Argon2id, then AES-256-GCM) before Keylo stores anything.
In Settings, under Networks, find Custom tokens and tap Add token. Pick Base as the network, paste

Turn on Two-factor authentication and set an Anti-phishing code.
Keylo never sees your phrase, so it can't restore your wallet or recover funds. A password reset doesn't decrypt the wallet. Only your recovery phrase does.
Keep your Base GLMR next to your other coins
Sign up with email and a password. Keylo builds the wallet in your browser, with one 0x address for Base and every other EVM network.
How to send and receive GLMR on Base#
To receive, tap Receive, pick Base and share the address or QR code. The screen reads "Receive on Base". Tell the sender to choose Base as the network, because GLMR withdrawals on any other network won't land on Base.
To send:
Make sure you hold a little ETH on Base. GLMR can't pay for its own gas.
Tap Send, choose GLMR on Base, and paste or scan the recipient in To.
Enter an amount or tap Max, which sends all your GLMR because the fee comes from ETH.
Tap Review, pick Slow, Normal or Fast, and check the network, the recipient and the fee in ETH.
Tap Send and watch the status go from "On its way" to "Sent", with an explorer link.
Fees on Base are paid in ETH and were well under a cent for a token transfer on October 24, 2026. If you hold no ETH there, Keylo says "You need some ETH on Base to pay the network fee." and stops before signing. The Base wallet guide covers getting ETH onto Base.
Selling or trading GLMR after the move#
Liquidity for GLMR on Base was thin in October 2026: LI.FI's token data showed about $2,000 traded in the 24 hours before October 24. Large orders can move the price a lot, so trade in small pieces and compare the quoted minimum with what you expect.
Keylo has no swap or bridge on the Moonbeam network itself. GLMR on Base is a different matter. It's a Base token, so the Swap screen on Base can quote GLMR trades when a route exists. Under You pay, choose Base and paste the GLMR contract, then compare routes by amount, fees and Minimum you receive.
The default slippage limit is 0.5%, so a thin market may fail to fill rather than fill badly. Any Keylo service fee appears as its own line in the quote. The swap and bridge page explains how routes work. An exchange that completed the migration is the other option, if it lists GLMR on Base.
What Keylo doesn't do for Moonbeam#
No migration. Keylo can't run the Moonbeam migration portal or claim GLMR on your behalf.
No working Moonbeam transfers. Keylo still lists Moonbeam, but the chain can't confirm transactions, so balances there are a snapshot, not spendable funds.
No swap or bridge on Moonbeam, and no route from the old parachain to Base.
No staking. Keylo stakes only on Cosmos SDK chains, and Moonbeam collator staking ended with the parachain.
No dapp connections. Keylo has no browser extension and no WalletConnect.
No NFTs, hardware wallets or card purchases.
Keylo is non-custodial: if you lose both your password and your phrase, nobody can open the wallet, including Keylo. The networks page lists every chain Keylo supports.
Moonbeam migration scams and mistakes#
Network shutdowns bring out impostors, because worried holders act quickly. Watch for these.
Fake late-migration portals. Sites promising to "migrate" or "rescue" GLMR after the deadline, especially from ads or direct messages, are drainers. Start only from links on moonbeam.network.
Phrase requests. Nobody legitimate needs the recovery phrase of your Moonbeam wallet to migrate or claim tokens. Anyone asking for it wants to empty every network it controls.
Fake GLMR on Base. Copies with the same name and symbol can exist. Only

What is the GLMR contract address on Base?
The Foundation's announcement gives 0xB3846fD356c2149ee8D30b0449088Dc74e265459. On Basescan it shows as Moonbeam (GLMR) with 18 decimals and a total supply of about 1.24 billion. Add that exact contract in your wallet, for example under Custom tokens in Keylo, and ignore tokens with the same name at any other address.
I missed the July 31 deadline. Is my GLMR lost?
Not necessarily, but there's no public route we could confirm on October 24, 2026. The Foundation said guidance for holders who didn't migrate would follow, so watch moonbeam.network. The archived Moonbeam forum points to the Moonbeam Discord and [email protected]. Never pay a third party to "rescue" GLMR, and never share your recovery phrase.
Did exchanges migrate GLMR automatically?
The Foundation said exchanges would handle the migration for customers. Each exchange chose its own timing, so check your account and the exchange's announcements. If you withdraw GLMR now, pick Base as the network and send it to a Base address. If your balance looks wrong, the exchange's support team is the right contact.
Can I still send GLMR on Moonbeam?
No, not in practice. The parachain hasn't produced a block since August 10, 2026, according to the public nodes we checked, so a new transaction can't confirm. Keylo still lists Moonbeam, but treat any balance there as a snapshot. Move GLMR only on Base, where it's an ordinary ERC-20 token that pays gas in ETH.
Is my Moonbeam wallet address the same on Base?
Yes. Moonbeam used Ethereum-style 0x accounts, and the same recovery phrase gives the same 0x address on Base and other EVM networks. Balances are separate, though. GLMR you migrated sits on Base, and anything left behind stays on the old Moonbeam chain. In Keylo, open Base to see migrated GLMR after adding the token.
Can I still stake GLMR?
No. Collator staking ended with the parachain, and Moonbeam's site says GLMR will take on new roles in the Moonbeam Protocol on Base when it opens. Keylo stakes only on Cosmos SDK chains in any case. Be wary of sites offering GLMR staking or yield today, and check every claim against moonbeam.network.
